Friends of Perry Animal Shelter JOINS FUND THE SHELTERS CHALLENGE.
Donors can help Friends of Perry Animal Shelter win part of $200,000 in cash prizes to fund life-saving work to help pets
Perry, Georgia., April 9th, 2019 — Friends of Perry Animal Shelter is now competing in the Fund the Shelters Challenge, a month-long online fundraising competition where hundreds of animal welfare organizations from across the country compete for grant prize money. The Fund the Shelters Challenge is presented by Michelson Found Animals and NBC and Telemundo owned stations.

To foster a public sentiment of humanity and gentleness toward animals and to protect them from cruelty, neglect, and carelessness.
To return lost animals to their owners and to place adoptable pets into humane and responsible environments.
To prevent pet overpopulation by promoting the spay and neutering of companion animals.
To promote responsible care and concerned pet ownership through education.
To participate with our community to provide Perry with an animal shelter characterized by:
Adequate capacity to manage our growth
Spacious and comfortable animal living quarters
A location conducive to volunteerism, adoption, and outdoor activities.
Facilities to achieve our educational goals
A comfortable and inviting atmosphere for the public to visit and adopt pets
To oversee a TNR Program in an effort to prevent pet overpopulation & euthanizing of feral cats in our community.
This challenge is important to us to be able to secure funds necessary to accomplish our goals from both public and private sources through fundraising, donations and grant applications. If we win the funds will be used to help us help animals with vet needs that currently exceed our reach.
“Winning this challenge will really help us keep going and save even more animals in 2019,” said Amanda George, Assistant Director, Friends of Perry Animal Shelter “raising money for the animals always boost the sprits of the volunteers at the shelter.” The Fund the Shelters Challenge launched on CrowdRise by GoFundMe on Tuesday, April 9 at 12 pm ET and will continue through Thursday, May 9 at 1: 59:59 pm ET. The organization that raises the most during the Challenge wins a $50,000 donation, second place gets $35,000, third gets $20,000, fourth gets $15,000, fifth gets $10,000, and sixth gets $5,000. Weekly Bonus Challenges enable charities to win up to another $65,000 in prize money.
